WK 2; MONDAY

[ well they have a movie theatre now, and a little more to keep everyone occupied when wandering around the ship gets boring. no library, but this will have to do for now.

or... it would if the movies weren't objectively terrible and slightly disturbing. shiraishi's nabbed himself a comfortable bed seat and seems to be taking more of a chance to have a nap than pay avid attention to the movie playing on screen. ]

[ well. kanesan only has the vaguest idea of what is going on here, or what a movie even is. so he’s seated nearby watching whichever film is on screen with a frown. ]

It doesn’t look like a normal picture…

[ no one introduced him to the concept of being quiet in the theater ]

[ bold of you to assume shiraishi goes to theaters ever. ]

It looks very art noueveau, actually. [ haha. ] The sort of thing with niche appeal only.

[ the art nouveau part, that is. good luck explaining that one!! ]

...But I was told that movies are like pictures that move. [ he gestures at the screen, with the animation. ] That's not a normal picture, is it?

No, it's an animated picture. Computer generated images. The end result is still a movie though.

Overall though, no. I would not call this a normal picture.

So they’re not always like this, then. I wonder if they have other options… Have you been here long enough to find out?

Here, in this seat specifically? No. I don't watch movies, fullstop.

Because aside from trying to figure out how to get into the lower levels where the demon is probably hiding, there's very little to occupy yourself with here.

week 2, sunday

[ where the fuck does shiraishi hang out. kanesan doesn't know a lot about the guy, except that he's kind of a jerk who likes to play with words to keep the conversation on anything but himself. but that's the entire reason kanesan is looking for him now. he saw how the guy was acting in the trial. something is up, and he's going to find out.

he's resigned to just. finding shiraishi when he finds him, and going about his business in the meantime. so it's off to the lobby for Reasons, and. of course. there he is. battle plans are always in flux, so he decides to let the rest wait while he addresses... whatever this is. ]

Oi, Shiraishi!

[ he's in the lobby -- good guess. stood in the doorway between the pool deck and the lobby, looking out at the pool area. if kanesan spots him before shouting, he might see him look into the lobby, and back again. like hes's considering something, or even searching for something.

when he hears his name though, he raises a hand absently, but doesn't say anything in response. ]

[ he doesn't like being ignored. whatever shiraishi is up to, it can't be that important if he's just standing around, can it? so he's storming up with a scowl. ]

Oi! What are you doing out here that you can't answer someone who's calling you?

[ he waved, geez. did kanesan want a smile and a pat on the back too? ]

Thinking.

You're interrupting it, as a matter of fact.

Thinking about what? How we couldn't save an innocent girl in the trial? None of us could, but you didn't have to be so harsh with her. Or were you more angry about who she killed?

[ he's deliberately trying to find the right buttons to push to provoke shiraishi haha! maybe that'll get him to actually fucking talk. ]

[ that just gets him a flat look. ]

More about the two other murders we didn’t solve, and how many demons there are potentially waiting around to possess us. Are you angry because you were fond of her, or because she’s being punished even though she was acting in self defence?

Would you be this angry if it turned out we’d been dragging information out of a demon wearing her skin, and you’d been demanding people treat her nicely and gently the whole time?

This isn't about me. Are you always so adamant not to talk about yourself that you have to twist everything around to someone else?

week 3, thursday

[ kanesan had every intention to avoid shiraishi since their last interaction. if he’s going to be so obstinate, then he’s not worth the effort, right? no matter if he is surely hiding something - let him hide, from his heart or his past or whatever it is. kanesan won’t waste his breath trying to understand anymore.

there is the issue of the items appearing around the hotel, though, and the memories that come with them. when he spots shiraishi, he means to turn and go the other way, until a flash of blue and white catches his eye - a shinsengumi haori, hanging on a doorknob as if it belongs there. though kanesan knows exactly what it means by now, he makes no move to touch it. he’ll wait until shiraishi leaves, and share this memory with someone else. ]

[ bye felicia.

or, you know. that would be the case, but it's kind of difficult to avoid people in a scenario like this. so when he sees kanesan just standing there, hovering, he stops as well and raises an eyebrow at him. ]

... Waiting for someone?

[ his hand is on his sword, but kanesan doesn't move. he doesn't even turn to look at shiraishi, eyes pointedly directed elsewhere - not at the haori, to draw attention to it, but just so that it will stay in his peripheral vision. ]

No.

that just makes it all the more obvious? ]

Keeping an eye on something?

[ he's not known for being subtle. with an irritated sigh, his eyes slide over to meet shiraishi's. ]

What does it matter?

Inevitably you'll want to touch it. You can do it now and get it over with, or we can stand here for a while, awkwardly.

There's nothing stopping you from leaving.

[ He'll just wave. But he does have to walk past him, and that item of his first. ]
