I'm still not completely sure if the affliction being passed around is related to the demons. Otherwise, it becomes a little too easy to figure out who's possessed, if we can just trace it back to the source.
We know there's more than one force in play here. After all, it's unlikely the demons are the ones who brought us here and set up methods on how to deal with them.
And they'll continue to pull strings until one of the groups gets it right. We're just speculating until we find proof of their existence or involvement though.
It definitely seemed petty enough. How much of that was wholly the demon, or exacerbating that girl's worst traits I couldn't say, but I'd assume a combination of both.
